Crowns can be done in just one day here at All About Family Dental. A dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that covers a tooth in order to restore its original shape and size or to improve strength and appearance. A permanent crown is cemented into place and completely covers the visible portion of a tooth above the gum line. Crowns can be constructed of metal, such as gold or stainless steel, as well as resin, porcelain, ceramic. Crowns are most often employed to protect or restore a weak or severely worn tooth, or for cosmetic reasons.
Dental bridges serve as a “bridge” between 2 natural teeth. Bridges are artificial teeth that are placed into gaps in the mouth and are attached to the 2 adjoining teeth with crowns. If you’re missing one or more teeth in a row, this option may be attractive to you. Remember, though, that you cannot remove fixed bridges from your mouth – the bridge is permanently attached. This option can improve your speech and bite and may even reduce your risk of gum disease. Bridges last 10 years or more.
Complete and Partial Dentures
At All About Family Dental, we offer 2 kinds of dentures: partial and full dentures. We’ll take an impression of your mouth and then send the moulds out to a laboratory for creation of your new dentures. A partial denture, also called a "removable partial denture" or a "partial", contains one or more false teeth and is perfect for those with a few missing teeth. Partials are held in place by attachments to nearby teeth. Partial dentures can be removed for cleaning and sleeping. At All About Family Dental, we often suggestion this option when nearby teeth are not strong enough to hold a bridge or when more than just a few teeth are missing. If all of your natural teeth are missing, you may require a full denture (also called "complete dentures" or "false teeth"). It’s important to care for your dentures as thoroughly as you would your natural teeth, with cleaning by soaking overnight.
Patients who suffer from tooth alignment problems no longer have to face years of wearing unattractive metal braces! The Invisalign® teeth alignment process uses a series of custom-made aligners, made from a smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you simply wear over your teeth. This process gradually and gently shifts your teeth into place, using no metal brackets or wires. A new set of aligners is inserted every 2 weeks until your treatment is complete. Invisalign offers a number of benefits over traditional metal braces, including comfort, appearance and ease of use.
